_We Descend_ was composed in the hypertext authoring program Storyspace, and then translated into a stand-alone application known as the Storyspace Reader, in which you now read these words. In the course of work on this hypertext, Storyspace went through a number of maintenance upgrades from version 1.0 to 1.5.

Most of the work on We Descend was done on a Macintosh IIsi computer (1990) with a 12" Apple RGB monitor. Additional writing and linking was done on a Macintosh PowerBook® 520 (grayscale display, 1994), and the piece was finished on a PowerMacintosh® 7100/66 (1995) with a Radius® PrecisionColor Display/17.
