This fragment might more appropriately be called Notes Toward a Draft, and one conjecture has been put forth that it is a continuation, after a lacuna, of the writings in the Diary. But this seems unlikely, in that certain passages of the Diary appear to post-date the questions and provisional conclusions presented here.

More plausible is the notion that the Scholar was working on this text and the Diary concurrently.
