Like the certainly spurious [Summary Addendum], this cheery little fragment would at first appear to have been written from the perspective of someone like the Scholar, but it is impossible to credit the Scholar's authorship, here as there, for many of the same reasons. The Scholar himself, in his darker moments, thought it possible that the entire story of Egderus and Robenc and the rest might be a hoax, and the very existence of this apparently rejected draft describing a meeting between the Superius Frater and Robenc is capable of doing considerable damage to one's confidence in the authenticity of the other writings.
