A common misconception of first-time readers is that the double-headed arrow actually does have two heads — i.e., that clicking on the right end moves you forward along a path and the left moves you back. But clicking on the navigate tool always moves you forward, unless you hold down the <shift> key — which takes you back to the space you just came from.
