Here we find the first reference to "The Ancients" in the post-Egderus writings (whether made by the Scholar or not remains unresolved). The portrait here of these quasi-mythical beings diverges rather widely — in spirit if in nothing else — from the various references to be found elsewhere in the archives. Another reason to be skeptical about the author of this passage.
